गदितं मे कुलस्यास्य रक्षणार्थमरिंदम ।
न श्रुतं सर्वरक्षोभिस्ततोऽहं राममागतः ॥६-६७-१५४॥
gaditaṃ me kulasyāsya rakṣaṇārthamariṃdama |
na śrutaṃ sarvarakṣobhistato'haṃ rāmamāgataḥ ॥6-67-154॥
Translation
O subduer of enemies! I spoke much for the protection of this lineage, but none of the Rakshasas listened to me; therefore, I came to Shri Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे शत्रुओं का दमन करने वाले! मैंने इस कुल की रक्षा के लिए बहुत कुछ कहा था, किन्तु किसी भी राक्षस ने मेरी बात नहीं सुनी, इसलिए मैं श्री राम के पास आ गया।
English Commentary
Vibhishana justifies his defection from the lineage here. He clarifies that he made every possible effort to save Lanka, but Ravana and the other Rakshasas rejected his counsel due to their arrogance. His move to Shri Rama was not out of self-interest but for the preservation of Truth. This verse reaffirms his untainted character.

विभीषण यहाँ अपने निष्क्रमण (कुल छोड़ने) का औचित्य सिद्ध कर रहे हैं। वे स्पष्ट करते हैं कि उन्होंने लंका को बचाने का हर संभव प्रयास किया था, किन्तु रावण और अन्य राक्षसों के अहंकार ने उनके परामर्श को ठुकरा दिया। उनका श्री राम के पास जाना स्वार्थ के लिए नहीं, बल्कि सत्य के संरक्षण के लिए था। यह श्लोक उनके पवित्र चरित्र की पुष्टि करता है।
