Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रामोऽयमिति विज्ञाय जहास विकृतस्वनम् ।
अभ्यधावत संक्रुद्धो हरीन् विद्रावयन् रणे ॥६-६७-१५८॥
rāmo'yamiti vijñāya jahāsa vikṛtasvanam |
abhyadhāvata saṃkruddho harīn vidrāvayan raṇe ॥6-67-158॥
Translation
Realizing 'This is Shri Rama,' he laughed with a distorted sound and, filled with rage, rushed toward Him in the battle, scattering the monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह श्री राम हैं— ऐसा जानकर वह राक्षस विकृत स्वर में हँसा और क्रोध में भरकर वानरों को भगाता हुआ उनकी (श्री राम जी की) ओर दौड़ा।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna's distorted laughter reveals his arrogance and battle-lust. Upon hearing Shri Rama's name, he did not tremble but felt he had found the opportunity he sought. Scattering the monkeys was his way of clearing the path for the ultimate confrontation he was about to have with his final target.
हिंदी टीका
कुम्भकर्ण की 'विकृत' हंसी उसके अहंकार और युद्धोन्माद को प्रकट करती है। श्री राम का नाम सुनकर वह डरा नहीं, बल्कि उसे वह अवसर मिल गया जिसकी वह प्रतीक्षा कर रहा था। वानरों को भगाना (विद्रावयन्) उसके मार्ग के अवरोधों को हटाने जैसा था। वह अब सीधे अपने अंतिम लक्ष्य से टकराने जा रहा है।
