अनेन निर्जिता देवा दानवाश्च पुरा मया ।
विकर्णनास इति मां नावज्ञातुं त्वमर्हसि ॥६-६७-१६२॥
anena nirjitā devā dānavāśca purā mayā |
vikarṇanāsa iti māṃ nāvajñātuṃ tvamārhasi ॥6-67-162॥
Translation
With this very mace, I have conquered Gods and Danavas in the past. Do not hold me in contempt just because I am now without my ears and nose.
हिंदी अनुवाद
प्राचीन काल में मैंने इसी मुदगर से देवताओं और दानवों को जीता था। अब कटे हुए कान और नाक वाला समझकर तुम मेरा अपमान मत करो।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna feels the sting of the humiliation inflicted by Sugriva, who bit off his ears and nose. He does not want his martial prowess to be underestimated due to his physical disfigurement. By recalling his glorious past, he attempts to instill respect and fear in Shri Rama. It is the cry of an injured warrior's self-respect.

कुम्भकर्ण को इस बात की पीड़ा है कि सुग्रीव ने उसके कान और नाक काट दिए हैं। वह नहीं चाहता कि उसकी शारीरिक कुरूपता के कारण उसकी वीरता को कम आँका जाए। वह अपने गौरवशाली अतीत की याद दिलाकर श्री राम के मन में सम्मान और भय उत्पन्न करना चाहता है। यह एक आहत योद्धा के स्वाभिमान की पुकार है।
