स वारिधारा इव सायकांस्तान् पिबञ्शरीरेण महेन्द्रशत्रुः ।
जघान रामस्य शरप्रवेगं व्याविध्य तं मुद्गरमुग्रवेगम् ॥६-६७-१६६॥
sa vāridhārā iva sāyakāntān pibañśarīreṇa mahendraśatruḥ |
jaghāna rāmasya śarapravegaṃ vyāvidhya taṃ mudgaramugravegam ॥6-67-166॥
Translation
That enemy of Indra (Kumbhakarna), drinking in those arrows with his body as if they were streams of water, destroyed the momentum of Shri Rama's shafts by brandishing his fierce-moving mace.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह इन्द्र का शत्रु (कुम्भकर्ण) उन बाणों को अपने शरीर से वर्षा की धाराओं के समान पी जाने लगा और अपने उग्र वेग वाले मुदगर को घुमाकर उसने श्री राम के बाणों के वेग को नष्ट कर दिया।
English Commentary
The act of 'drinking' (Piban) the arrows signifies his boundless endurance. He perceived the arrows not as wounds but as raindrops. By using his mace, he intercepted the shafts in mid-air. This scene showcases Kumbhakarna's active defensive skill, forcing Shri Rama to resort to more potent missiles.

बाणों को 'पी जाना' (पिबन्) उसकी असीम सहनशक्ति का परिचायक है। वह बाणों को चोट नहीं बल्कि वर्षा की बूंदों के समान मान रहा था। अपने मुदगर (गदा) के प्रयोग से वह बाणों को हवा में ही रोक रहा था। यह दृश्य कुम्भकर्ण के सक्रिय रक्षा-कौशल को दर्शाता है, जो श्री राम को अधिक शक्तिशाली अस्त्रों के प्रयोग के लिए विवश कर रहा था।
