निकृत्तबाहुर्विनिकृत्तपादो विदार्य वक्त्रं बडबामुखाभम् ।
दुद्राव रामं सहसाभिगर्जन् राहुर्यथा चन्द्रमिवान्तरिक्षे ॥६-६७-१७६॥
nikṛttabāhurvinikṛttapādo vidārya vaktraṃ baḍabāmukhābham |
dudrāva rāmaṃ sahasābhigarjan rāhuryathā candramivāntarikṣe ॥6-67-176॥
Translation
With arms and legs severed, that Rakshasa, spreading his mouth wide like the submarine fire, rushed toward Shri Rama roaring suddenly, like Rahu rushing toward the moon in the sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कटी हुई भुजाओं और कटे हुए पैरों वाला वह राक्षस, बड़वानल (समुद्र की आग) के समान अपना मुख फैलाकर, राहु की भांति श्री राम की ओर तेजी से दौड़ा (या रेंगते हुए बढ़ा)।
English Commentary
Even with limbs severed, Kumbhakarna did not concede. He used his mouth as a weapon, attempting to swallow Shri Rama. 'Badabamukhabham' (mouth like submarine fire) signifies his insatiable hunger and destructive power. The analogy of Rahu and the Moon suggests his intent to eclipse the Divine Light (Shri Rama). This is the absolute limit of demonic survival instinct.

हाथ-पैर कटने के बाद भी कुम्भकर्ण ने हार नहीं मानी। वह अपने मुख को शस्त्र बनाकर श्री राम को निगलने के लिए बढ़ा। 'बड़वामुखाभम्' (बड़वानल के समान मुख) उसकी भूख और संहारक शक्ति को दर्शाता है। राहु और चन्द्रमा की उपमा यह संकेत देती है कि वह साक्षात् प्रकाश (श्री राम) को अंधकार में लीन करना चाहता था। यह उसकी आसुरी जिजीविषा का चरम है।
