Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तद्रामबाणाभिहतं पपात रक्षःशिरः पर्वतसंनिकाशम् ।
बभञ्ज चर्यागृहगोपुराणि प्राकारमुच्चं समपातयच्च ॥६-६७-१८३॥
tadrāmabāṇābhihataṃ papāta rakṣaḥśiraḥ parvatasaṃnikāśam |
babhañja caryāgṛhagopurāṇi prākāramuccaṃ samapātayacca ॥6-67-183॥
Translation
That mountain-like head of the Rakshasa, struck by Shri Rama's arrow, fell (into Lanka). It smashed the houses in the streets, the gate-towers, and brought down the high surrounding wall.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम के बाण से कटा हुआ पर्वत के समान वह राक्षस का सिर (लंका में) गिर पड़ा। उसने गलियों के घरों, द्वारों और ऊँची चारदीवारी को तोड़कर गिरा दिया।
English Commentary
Kumbhakarna's head was a massive mass in itself. Its fall inside Lanka symbolizes the city's destruction. It demolished the very buildings and fortifications it was meant to guard. This shows how the protector of unrighteousness eventually becomes its destroyer. The splendor of Lanka was now turning into ruins.

कुम्भकर्ण का सिर अपने आप में एक विशाल पिंड था। उसका लंका के भीतर गिरना लंका के विनाश का प्रतीक है। उसने अपने ही नगर के भवनों और परकोटों को नष्ट कर दिया। यह दर्शाता है कि अधर्म का रक्षक अंततः उसी का विनाशक बन जाता है। लंका का वैभव अब धूल में मिल रहा था।
