Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मया तु मोक्षितस्यास्य सुग्रीवस्य महात्मनः ।
अप्रीतिश्च भवेत् कष्टा कीर्तिनाशश्च शाश्वतः ॥६-६७-८०॥
mayā tu mokṣitasyāsya sugrīvasya mahātmanaḥ |
aprītiśca bhavet kaṣṭā kīrtināśaśca śāśvataḥ ॥6-67-80॥
Translation
If the high-souled Sugriva is liberated by me, he will feel a painful displeasure, and there will be a permanent loss of his glory.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि महात्मा सुग्रीव को मेरे द्वारा मुक्त कराया गया, तो उन्हें अत्यंत कष्टकारी अप्रसन्नता होगी और उनका यश सदा के लिए नष्ट हो जाएगा।
English Commentary
This illustrates the greatness and sense of propriety in Shri Hanuman's character. He understands that for a King, being saved by a subordinate might be a matter of shame. He wishes to protect Sugriva's self-respect and eternal 'Kirti' (glory). This represents a sophisticated understanding of leadership and relationships, where power is exercised with restraint despite being available.

यह हनुमान जी के चरित्र की महानता और मर्यादा का परिचायक है। वे जानते हैं कि एक राजा के लिए दूसरों की सहायता से प्राण बचना लज्जा का विषय हो सकता है। वे सुग्रीव के आत्मसम्मान और 'कीर्ति' की रक्षा करना चाहते हैं। यह राजनीति और संबंधों की वह सूक्ष्म समझ है जहाँ शक्ति होने पर भी उसका प्रयोग संयम के साथ किया जाता है।
