ततः कराग्रैः सहसा समेत्य राजा हरीणाममरेन्द्रशत्रुम् ।
खरैश्च कर्णौ दशनैश्च नासां ददंश पार्श्वेषु च कुम्भकर्णम् ॥६-६७-८७॥
tataḥ karāgraiḥ sahasā sametya rājā harīṇāmamarendraśatrum |
kharaiśca karṇau daśanaiśca nāsāṃ dadaṃśa pārśveṣu ca kumbhakarṇam ॥6-67-87॥
Translation
Then, suddenly using the tips of His hands (nails), the King of monkeys bit off the two ears and the nose of Kumbhakarna, the enemy of the Lord of Gods, and also bit him on his sides.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब वानरराज सुग्रीव ने अचानक अपने नाखूनों से इन्द्र के उस शत्रु कुम्भकर्ण के दोनों कान और दांतों से उसकी नाक काट ली तथा उसकी पसलियों में भी दांतों से काट लिया।
English Commentary
Sugriva's attack was sudden and ferocious. He utilized the natural weapons of His primate nature—His nails and teeth. To mutilate a giant like Kumbhakarna in this manner was a deeper psychological humiliation than it was a physical wound. This scene illustrates the fierce rage and the quick-wittedness of the Vanara King.

सुग्रीव का यह आक्रमण अप्रत्याशित और भीषण था। उन्होंने अपनी वानर प्रकृति के सहज शस्त्रों—नाखूनों और दांतों—का प्रयोग किया। कुम्भकर्ण जैसे विशाल दानव को इस प्रकार अंग-विहीन करना उसके लिए शारीरिक पीड़ा से अधिक मानसिक अपमान था। यह दृश्य वानरराज के प्रचंड क्रोध और उनकी तात्कालिक बुद्धि का परिचायक है।
