चखाद रक्षांसि हरीन् पिशाचानृक्षांश्च मोहाद्युधि कुम्भकर्णः ।
यथैव मृत्युर्हरते युगान्ते स भक्षयामास हरींश्च मुख्यान् ॥६-६७-९६॥
cakhāda rakṣāṃsi harīn piśācānṛkṣāṃśca mohādyudhi kumbhakarṇaḥ |
yathaiva mṛtyurharate yugānte sa bhakṣayāmāsa harīṃśca mukhyān ॥6-67-96॥
Translation
In the delusion of battle, Kumbhakarna devoured Rakshasas, monkeys, ghosts (Pishachas), and bears. Just as Death carries away everyone at the end of an eon, he began to eat even the prominent monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुम्भकर्ण ने युद्ध के मोह (अंधाधुंध संहार) में राक्षसों, वानरों, पिशाचों और ऋक्षों (भालुओं) को खाना शुरू कर दिया। जैसे प्रलयकाल में मृत्यु सबको हर लेती है, वैसे ही वह मुख्य वानरों को भी खाने लगा।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the peak of Kumbhakarna's madness. The word 'Mohat' suggests that he had lost all discrimination, even devouring the Rakshasas of his own side. This is the nature of unrighteousness that eventually turns upon itself. Comparing him to 'Death' reinforces his inevitable and irresistible destructive impact.

यह श्लोक कुम्भकर्ण के उन्माद की चरम अवस्था को दर्शाता है। 'मोहात्' शब्द का अर्थ है कि वह होश खो चुका था और अपने ही पक्ष के राक्षसों को भी खाने लगा था। यह अधर्म का वह रूप है जो अंततः स्वयं का ही विनाश करने लगता है। उसकी तुलना 'मृत्यु' से करना उसके अमोघ संहारक प्रभाव को पुष्ट करता है।
