Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ते भक्ष्यमाणा हरयो रामं जग्मुस्तदा गतिम् ।
कुम्भकर्णो भृशं क्रुद्धः कपीन् खादन् प्रधावति ॥६-६७-९९॥
te bhakṣyamāṇā harayo rāmaṃ jagmustadā gatim |
kumbhakarṇo bhṛśasaṃkruddhaḥ kapīn khādan pradhāvati ॥6-67-99॥
Translation
Being thus devoured, those monkeys sought refuge in Shri Rama, their only protector. Kumbhakarna, exceedingly enraged, was running about devouring the monkeys.
हिंदी अनुवाद
खाए जाते हुए वे वानर तब अपनी एकमात्र गति (आश्रय) श्री राम के पास गए। कुम्भकर्ण अत्यंत क्रोधित होकर वानरों को खाता हुआ सब ओर दौड़ रहा था।
English Commentary
The Vanaras turning toward Shri Rama in their moment of crisis manifests their total surrender ('Sharanagati'). They realize that only the Supreme Lord can now save them from the death-like Kumbhakarna. The phrase 'Ramam jagmuh' symbolizes the unshakable faith of devotees who call upon their deity even in the face of death.

संकट के समय वानरों का श्री राम की ओर जाना उनकी अनन्य शरणागति को प्रकट करता है। वे जानते हैं कि अब केवल परमात्मा ही उन्हें इस काल-रूपी कुम्भकर्ण से बचा सकते हैं। 'श्री रामं जग्मुः' शब्द भक्तों के उस अटूट विश्वास का प्रतीक है जो मृत्यु के क्षण में भी केवल अपने आराध्य को पुकारता है।
