Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
त्वं मां विहाय वै दैवाद्यातोऽसि यमसादनम् ।
मम शल्यमनुद्धृत्य बान्धवानां महाबल ॥६-६८-११॥
tvaṃ māṃ vihāya vai daivādyāto'si yamasādanam |
mama śalyamanuddhṛtya bāndhavānāṃ mahābala ॥6-68-11॥
Translation
O Mighty One! Leaving me behind, and without removing the thorn (of grief/danger) from me and our kinsmen, you have gone to the abode of Yama by the decree of destiny.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे महाबली! तुम मुझे छोड़कर और मेरे तथा बन्धु-बान्धवों के (हृदय में गड़े हुए) शल्य (काँटे/दुख) को निकाले बिना ही दैवयोग से यमराज के घर चले गए।
English Commentary
Ravana expresses a sense of abandonment. He feels Kumbhakarna left prematurely without finishing the task ('shalyam anuddhritaya' - without extracting the thorn). Attributing this to 'daiva' (destiny) shows Ravana's growing realization that forces beyond his control are at play.

रावण की शिकायत में प्रेम और पीड़ा है। उसे दुख है कि कुम्भकर्ण उसे 'मझधार' में छोड़कर चला गया। 'शल्य' से तात्पर्य श्री राम-लक्ष्मण रूपी काँटे या युद्ध के संकट से है। रावण इसे 'दैवात्' (भाग्य) मानता है, जो उसकी नियतिवादी सोच की शुरुआत है।
