कालाग्निरुद्रप्रतिमो राघवेण रणे हतः ।
यस्य ते वज्रनिष्पेपो न कुर्याद्व्यसनं सदा ॥६-६८-१४॥
kālāgnirudrapratimo rāghaveṇa raṇe hataḥ |
yasya te vajraniṣpepo na kuryādvyasanaṃ sadā ॥6-68-14॥
Translation
He who was equal to the fire of dissolution and Rudra, has been killed by Raghava in battle? (You) upon whom the strike of the thunderbolt could never cause distress...

कुम्भकर्ण की उपमा 'कालाग्निरुद्र' (प्रलयंकारी शिव) से दी गई है। जिसे इन्द्र का वज्र भी चोट नहीं पहुँचा सकता था, उसे श्री राम (एक मनुष्य) ने मार दिया—यह विरोधाभास रावण की समझ से परे है। यह श्री राम की असीमित शक्ति का परोक्ष गुणगान है।
