YUDDHA KANDA•SARGA: 7•SHLOKA: 16
जयश्च विपुलः प्राप्तो मृत्युश्च प्रतिषेधितः ।
सुयुद्धेन च ते सर्वे लोकास्तत्र सुतोषिताः ॥६-७-१६॥
jayaśca vipulaḥ prāpto mṛtyuśca pratiṣedhitaḥ । suyuddhena ca te sarve lokāstatra sutoṣitāḥ ॥6-7-16॥
Translation
...huge victory was obtained and Death was warded off/prohibited. And by that good fight, all the people there were well-satisfied (or stunned).
हिंदी अनुवाद
...आपने विपुल (विशाल) विजय प्राप्त की और मृत्यु को भी रोक दिया (प्रतिषेध किया)। उस उत्तम युद्ध से वहां के सभी लोग (योद्धा) अत्यंत संतुष्ट हुए (या भयभीत हुए)।
English Commentary
Defeating Death. 'Mrityu pratishedhitah' (Death was prohibited/stopped). This is the ultimate flattery—asserting that Ravana conquered the inevitable end itself. It aims to make Ravana feel immortal and untouchable.

मृत्यु पर विजय। रावण ने यमराज को युद्ध में रोका। यह रावण की अमरता (वरदान के कारण) का प्रमाण है। मंत्री कहते हैं कि जब आपने मृत्यु को हरा दिया, तो श्री राम से क्या डरना?
