नरान्तकं हतं दृष्ट्वा चुक्रुशुर्नैर्ऋतर्षभाः ।
देवान्तकस्त्रिमूर्धा च पौलस्त्यश्च महोदरः ॥६-७०-१॥
narāntakaṃ hataṃ dṛṣṭvā cukruśurnairṛtarṣabhāḥ |
devāntakastrimūrdhā ca paulastyaśca mahodaraḥ ॥6-70-1॥
Translation
Seeing Narantaka slain, the foremost among Rakshasas—Devantaka, Trishira, and Mahodara of Pulastya's lineage—cried out in grief.

नरान्तक को मारा गया देखकर राक्षसों में श्रेष्ठ देवान्तक, त्रिशिरा और पुलस्त्यवंशी महोदर जोर-जोर से विलाप करने लगे।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the grief within the Rakshasa camp amidst the horrors of war. Narantaka was a highly valiant son of Ravana, and his death shook the remaining warriors. Their crying out is not just a sign of sorrow but also a prelude to a vengeful counter-attack. These three warriors were close to Ravana and are now planning a collective assault. It highlights the falling morale and desperate rage of the demonic forces.

यहाँ युद्ध की विभीषिका के बीच राक्षसी खेमे में व्याप्त शोक का चित्रण है। नरान्तक रावण का अत्यंत प्रतापी पुत्र था, जिसकी मृत्यु ने शेष योद्धाओं को झकझोर दिया। विलाप यहाँ केवल दुःख का नहीं, बल्कि प्रतिशोध की अग्नि का भी प्रतीक है। ये तीनों योद्धा रावण के अत्यंत निकट थे और अब वे सामूहिक रूप से आक्रमण करने की योजना बना रहे हैं। यह श्लोक आसुरी शक्तियों के गिरते मनोबल और उनके हताशापूर्ण क्रोध को रेखांकित करता है।
