ततो जृम्भितमालोक्य हर्षाद्देवान्तकस्तदा ।
परिघेणाभिदुद्राव मारुतात्मजमाहवे ॥६-७०-२३॥
tato jṛmbhitamālokya harṣād-devāntakastadā |
parigheṇābhidudrāva mārutātmajamāhave ॥6-70-23॥
Translation
Then, seeing the failed attempt and feeling joyous, Devantaka displayed enthusiasm and rushed toward Hanuman, the son of the Wind, with his iron club in the battle.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब (नील के प्रहार को निष्फल देख) देवान्तक ने हर्षित होकर जम्हाई ली (या उत्साह दिखाया) और परिघ लेकर युद्ध में पवनपुत्र हनुमान जी की ओर दौड़ लगा दी।
English Commentary
Devantaka's joy reflects his surging confidence. He mistakenly assumes the Vanaras are losing. He now targets Hanuman directly, a move that will lead to his doom. Challenging a warrior of Hanuman's stature is the ultimate manifestation of Devantaka's hubris.

देवान्तक का 'हर्ष' उसके बढ़ते हुए आत्मविश्वास को दर्शाता है। वह समझ बैठा कि वानर अब हार रहे हैं। उसने अब सीधे हनुमान जी को अपना लक्ष्य बनाया, जो उसके अंत का कारण बनने वाला था। हनुमान जी जैसे महावीर को चुनौती देना देवान्तक के अहंकार की पराकाष्ठा है।
