ततः स शैलेन्द्रनिपातभग्नो महोदरस्तेन महाद्विपेन ।
विपोथितो भूमितले गतासुः पपात वज्राभिहतो यथा ऽद्रिः ॥६-७०-३२॥
tataḥ sa śailendranipātabhagno mahodarastena mahādvipena |
vipothito bhūmitale gatāsuḥ papāta vajrābhihato yathā 'driḥ ॥6-70-32॥
Translation
Crushed by the impact of that great mountain, Mahodara along with his huge elephant fell lifeless to the ground, like a mountain struck by a thunderbolt.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पर्वत के उस भारी प्रहार से कुचलकर, महोदर अपने उस विशाल हाथी सहित प्राणहीन होकर भूमि पर वैसे ही गिर पड़ा, जैसे वज्र की चोट से कोई पर्वत गिरता है।
English Commentary
Mahodara's end occurred simultaneously with that of his massive elephant. The analogy of a mountain struck by a thunderbolt confirms the resounding and terrifying nature of his fall. Nila answered the earlier assault with extreme ferocity. Mahodara's death revitalized the Vanara army, marking the end of another key Rakshasa champion.

महोदर का अंत उसके विशाल हाथी के साथ ही हुआ। 'वज्राहतः अद्रिः' (वज्र से कटा पर्वत) की उपमा उसके पतन की गूंज और भयंकरता को पुष्ट करती है। नील ने अपने ऊपर हुए प्रहार का उत्तर अत्यंत भीषणता से दिया। महोदर की मृत्यु ने वानर सेना को पुनः उत्साहित कर दिया और राक्षसों के एक और मुख्य नायक का अंत हो गया।
