Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तया ऽभिहतस्तेन गदया वानरर्षभः ।
भिन्नवक्षाः समाधूतः सुस्त्राव रुधिरं बहु ॥६-७०-५७॥
sa tayā 'bhihatastena gadayā vānararṣabhaḥ |
bhinnavakṣāḥ samādhūtaḥ sustrāva rudhiraṃ bahu ॥6-70-57॥
Translation
By the strike of that mace, the chest of that excellent monkey Rishabha was torn open; he was shaken and a large amount of blood flowed from him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस गदा के प्रहार से उन वानर श्रेष्ठ ऋषभ की छाती विदीर्ण हो गई, वे हिल गए और उनके शरीर से बहुत अधिक रक्त बहने लगा।
English Commentary
Rishabha sustains a severe injury here. 'Bhinnavakshah' (torn chest) testifies to the strike's lethality. The flowing blood marks his physical trauma. However, this verse serves as a preamble to Rishabha's endurance, as he will rise again despite this massive blow. It is a scene of physical sacrifice on the path of Dharma.

ऋषभ को यहाँ गम्भीर चोट लगी है। 'भिननवक्षाः' (फटी हुई छाती) प्रहार की भयंकरता का प्रमाण है। रक्त का बहना उनकी शारीरिक क्षति को दर्शाता है। किन्तु यह श्लोक ऋषभ की सहनशक्ति की पूर्वपीठिका है, जहाँ वे इस भीषण आघात को सहकर भी पुनः खड़े होंगे। यह धर्म के मार्ग पर दी जाने वाली शारीरिक आहुति का दृश्य है।
