Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तस्मिन् हते भ्रातरि रावणस्य तन्नैर्ऋतानां बलमर्णवाभम् ।
त्यक्तायुधं केवलजीवितार्थं दुद्राव भिन्नार्णवसंनिकाशम् ॥६-७०-७५॥
tasmin hate bhrātari rāvaṇasya tannairṛtānāṃ balamārṇavābham |
tyaktāyudhaṃ kevalajīvitārthaṃ dudrāva bhinnārṇavasaṃnikāśam ॥6-70-75॥
Translation
When that brother of Ravana (Unmatta) was slain, that ocean-like vast army of Rakshasas, discarding their weapons just to save their lives, fled like a breached ocean (overflowing flood).
हिंदी अनुवाद
रावण के उस भाई (उन्मत्त) के मारे जाने पर, राक्षसों की वह समुद्र के समान विशाल सेना शस्त्रों को त्याग कर केवल अपने प्राण बचाने के लिए वैसे ही भाग खड़ी हुई, जैसे कोई टूटा हुआ समुद्र (बाढ़ का पानी) बहता है।
English Commentary
The sarga concludes with the total rout of the Rakshasa army. The 'ocean-like' army fleeing like a 'breached' ocean symbolizes the complete collapse of their collective morale. After the slaughter of their key commanders, no courage remained in them to fight. They were now fleeing merely for survival. This is the storm of Dharma, before which the forces of unrighteousness were scattered like chaff.

सर्ग का उपसंहार राक्षसी सेना के पूर्ण पलायन के साथ होता है। 'अर्णवाभम्' (समुद्र के समान) सेना का 'भिन्न' (टूटा हुआ) समुद्र की तरह भागना उनके सामूहिक मनोबल के पूरी तरह ध्वस्त होने का प्रतीक है। अपने प्रमुख सेनापतियों के वध के बाद अब उनमें लड़ने का कोई साहस शेष नहीं बचा था। वे अब केवल अपनी जान बचाने के लिए भाग रहे थे। यह धर्म की वह आंधी है जिसके सामने अधर्म की सेना तिनके की तरह उड़ गई।
