क एष रक्षश्शार्दूलो रणभूमिं विराजयन् ।
अभ्येति रथिनां श्रेष्ठो रथेनादित्यतेजसा ॥६-७१-१६॥

ka eṣa rakṣaśśārdūlo raṇabhūmiṃ virājayan |
abhyeti rathināṃ śreṣṭho rathenādityatejasā ॥6-71-16॥

Translation

Who is this tiger among Rakshasas, the best of charioteers, coming towards us in a chariot with the brilliance of the sun, illuminating the battlefield?

हिंदी अनुवाद

रणभूमि को प्रकाशित करता हुआ, सूर्य के समान तेजस्वी रथ पर (सवार), यह रथियों में श्रेष्ठ राक्षसशार्दूल कौन आ रहा है?

English Commentary

Shri Rama repeats his query, emphasizing the warrior's elite status. Calling him 'Rathinam shreshtho' (best of charioteers) shows Shri Rama's appreciation for martial skill. He recognizes a worthy opponent.

श्री राम की जिज्ञासा। वे उसे 'रथिनां श्रेष्ठो' (रथियों में श्रेष्ठ) और 'रक्षश्शार्दूल' (राक्षसों में बाघ) कहते हैं। उसका रथ सूर्य जैसा तेजस्वी है। श्री राम जानना चाहते हैं कि यह योद्धा कौन है जो इतना प्रभावशाली है।
