स विस्फार्य महच्चापं किरीटी मृष्टकुण्डलः ।
नाम विश्रावयामास ननाद च महास्वनम् ॥६-७१-५॥
sa visphārya mahaccāpaṃ kirīṭī mṛṣṭakuṇḍalaḥ |
nāma viśrāvayāmāsa nanāda ca mahāsvanam ॥6-71-5॥
Translation
Wearing a crown and polished earrings, stretching his great bow, he proclaimed his name and roared with a loud sound.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुकुट और चमचमाते कुंडल धारण किए हुए उस (अतिकाय) ने अपने विशाल धनुष को खींचकर (टंकार की), अपना नाम सुनाया (परिचय दिया) और महाभयानक गर्जना की।
English Commentary
Atikaya announces his presence with auditory shock and awe. The twang of the bow, the proclamation of his name, and the roar ('nanada') are designed to intimidate. His attire—crown and earrings—reminds the enemy that they are facing royalty, a prince of Lanka.

युद्ध के शिष्टाचार और मनोवैज्ञानिक दबाव का प्रदर्शन। अतिकाय ने पहले धनुष की टंकार की, फिर अपना 'नाम विश्रावयामास' (नाम घोषित किया)। प्राचीन युद्धों में योद्धा अपना परिचय देकर ललकारते थे। उसका 'किरीटी' (मुकुटधारी) और 'मृष्टकुण्डलः' (साफ कुंडल वाला) होना उसकी राजसी शान को दिखाता है।
