ततः शिरस्ते निशितैः पातयिष्याम्यहं शरैः ।
मारुतः कालसम्पक्वं वृन्तात्तालफलं यथा ॥६-७१-६१॥
tataḥ śiraste niśitaiḥ pātayiṣyāmyahaṃ śaraiḥ |
mārutaḥ kālasampakvaṃ vṛntāttālaphalaṃ yathā ॥6-71-61॥
Translation
Then I shall bring down your head with sharp arrows, just as the wind brings down a fully ripe palm fruit from its stalk.
हिंदी अनुवाद
फिर मैं तीखे बाणों से तुम्हारे सिर को वैसे ही गिरा दूँगा, जैसे हवा पके हुए ताड़ के फल को डंठल से गिरा देती है।
English Commentary
Prediction of victory. The imagery of a ripe palm fruit ('tala-phalam') falling implies that Atikaya's time is up ('kala-sampakvam' - ripened by time). Lakshmana positions himself as the natural force (wind) that will execute this inevitable event.
हिंदी टीका
लक्ष्मण की प्रतिज्ञा। उपमा 'कालसम्पक्वं तालफलं' (पका हुआ ताड़ का फल) अतिकाय के सिर के लिए है। जैसे पके फल का गिरना निश्चित है, वैसे ही अतिकाय की मृत्यु निश्चित है। लक्ष्मण 'मारुत' (वायु) की तरह प्रबल होंगे।
