तमापतन्तं निशितं शरमाशीविषोपमम् ।
अर्धचन्द्रेण चिच्छेद लक्ष्मणः परवीरहा ॥६-७१-६८॥
tamāpatantaṃ niśitaṃ śaramāśīviṣopamam |
ardhacandreṇa ciccheda lakṣmaṇaḥ paravīrahā ॥6-71-68॥
Translation
Lakshmana, the slayer of enemy heroes, cut off that sharp arrow, resembling a venomous snake, as it fell upon him, with a crescent-shaped arrow (Ardhachandra).
हिंदी अनुवाद
शत्रुवीरों का नाश करने वाले लक्ष्मण ने अपनी ओर आते हुए उस तीखे और विषधर सर्प के समान बाण को अर्धचन्द्र बाण से काट दिया।
English Commentary
Defense. Lakshmana intercepts the deadly missile with an 'Ardhachandra' (crescent arrow), a standard counter-measure for cutting shafts. It proves he is equal to the challenge.

लक्ष्मण का बचाव। उन्होंने 'अर्धचन्द्रेण' (अर्धचन्द्रकार बाण) से अतिकाय के 'सर्प जैसे' बाण को हवा में ही काट दिया। यह उनकी सटीकता और रिफ्लेक्स का प्रमाण है।
