Srimad Valmiki Ramayana - Yuddha Kanda - Sarga 71

आग्नेयेन तदास्त्रेण योजयामास सायकम् ।
स जज्वाल तदा बाणो धनुष्यस्य महात्मनः ॥६-७१-८५॥

āgneyena tadāstreṇa yojayāmāsa sāyakam |
sa jajvāla tadā bāṇo dhanuṣyasya mahātmanaḥ ॥6-71-85॥

Translation

Then he invoked the 'Agneya Astra' (Fire Weapon) onto that arrow. That arrow then blazed up on the bow of that high-souled one.

हिंदी अनुवाद

तब उन्होंने उस बाण को 'आग्नेयास्त्र' से अभिमंत्रित (योजित) किया। तब उस महात्मा के धनुष पर वह बाण प्रज्वलित हो उठा।

English Commentary

Now the war of celestial weapons begins. Lakshmana invokes the weapon of the Fire God. The term 'Mahatma' indicates Lakshmana's spiritual power, which enables him to wield such divine missiles.

हिंदी टीका

अब दिव्य अस्त्रों का युद्ध आरम्भ होता है। लक्ष्मण जी अग्नि देवता के अस्त्र का प्रयोग करते हैं। 'महात्मा' शब्द लक्ष्मण जी की आध्यात्मिक शक्ति को दर्शाता है, जिसके बल पर वे दिव्यास्त्रों का प्रयोग कर पा रहे हैं।
