Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तद्भयाद्धि पुरी लङ्का पिहितद्वारतोरणा ।
अप्रमत्तैश्च सर्वत्र गुप्तै रक्ष्या पुरी त्वियम् ॥६-७२-१२॥
tadabhayāddhi purī laṅkā pihitadvāratoraṇā |
apramattaiśca sarvatra guptai rakṣyā purī tviyam ॥6-72-12॥
Translation
Out of fear of Him, the gates and arches of the city of Lanka have been closed. Now, being highly vigilant, this city must be protected everywhere by hidden guards.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन्हीं के भय से अब लंकापुरी के द्वारों और तोरणों को बंद कर दिया गया है। अब अत्यंत सावधान होकर गुप्त रूप से सब ओर इस नगरी की रक्षा की जानी चाहिए।
English Commentary
The strategic posture of Lanka has completely shifted. Ravana, who previously spoke of offensive glory, is now in a purely defensive state. The 'closed gates' symbolize Lanka's newfound vulnerability. Commanding his troops to be 'Apramatta' (ever-vigilant) proves that the fear of Shri Rama has now penetrated deep within the heart of the city.
हिंदी टीका
लंका की घेराबंदी का दृश्य अब बदल गया है। रावण, जो पहले आक्रमण की बात करता था, अब रक्षात्मक स्थिति में आ गया है। 'पिहितद्वार' (बंद द्वार) लंका के असहाय होने का प्रतीक है। रावण अपनी सेना को 'अप्रमत्त' (प्रमाद रहित/सावधान) रहने का आदेश दे रहा है, जो यह सिद्ध करता है कि श्री राम का भय अब लंका के भीतर तक प्रवेश कर चुका है।
