Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ततस्ते राक्षसाः सर्वे श्रुत्वा लङ्काधिपस्य तत् ।
वचनं सर्वमातिष्ठन् यथावत्तु महाबलाः ॥६-७२-१७॥
tataste rākṣasāḥ sarve śrutvā laṅkādhipasya tat |
vacanaṃ sarvamātiṣṭhan yathāvattu mahābalāḥ ॥6-72-17॥
Translation
Then all those mighty Rakshasas, having heard the command of the Lord of Lanka, executed everything methodically and as instructed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन सभी महाबली राक्षसों ने लंकाधिपति (रावण) के उस वचन को सुनकर उसका अक्षरशः और विधिपूर्वक पालन किया।
English Commentary
Discipline remains within the Rakshasa ranks. The term 'Yathavat' indicates that Ravana's orders were followed with complete military precision. Although fearful, their loyalty to their king and the vow to protect Lanka kept them mobilized. A scene of grim wartime silence emerges as everyone occupies their assigned outposts.

राक्षसी सेना में अनुशासन अभी भी बना हुआ है। 'यथावत्' शब्द यह बताता है कि रावण की आज्ञा का पालन पूरी सामरिक विधि के साथ किया गया। यद्यपि वे डरे हुए थे, किन्तु अपने राजा के प्रति उनकी निष्ठा और लंका की रक्षा का संकल्प उन्हें सक्रिय रखे हुए था। यहाँ युद्ध की एक गम्भीर शांति का दृश्य उपस्थित होता है जहाँ सब अपनी-अपनी चौकियों पर तैनात हैं।
