एते महाबला वीरा राक्षसा युद्धकाङ्क्षिणः ।
जेतारः परसैन्यानां परैर्नित्यापराजिताः ॥६-७२-३॥
ete mahābalā vīrā rākṣasā yuddhakāṅkṣiṇaḥ |
jetāraḥ parasainyānāṃ parairnityāparājitāḥ ॥6-72-3॥
Translation
All these mighty and war-seeking heroic Rakshasas, who were always the conquerors of enemy armies and were ever undefeated by others—

ये सभी महाबली और युद्ध के अभिलाषी वीर राक्षस, जो सदा शत्रु सेनाओं को जीतने वाले थे और स्वयं कभी दूसरों से पराजित नहीं हुए थे—
English Commentary
Ravana describes the invincibility of these fallen warriors to emphasize the gravity of his current predicament. Those who were world-conquerors now lie in the dust. This verse highlights the march of time and the power of truth. According to Ravana, these warriors were unbeatable, but before the righteous resolve of Shri Rama, both their pride and power were obliterated.

रावण इन योद्धाओं की अजेयता का वर्णन कर रहा है ताकि वह अपनी वर्तमान विवशता की गम्भीरता को रेखांकित कर सके। जो विश्वविजेता थे, वे आज भूमि पर पड़े हैं। यह श्लोक काल की गति और सत्य की शक्ति को प्रकट करता है। रावण के अनुसार ये योद्धा अजेय थे, किन्तु श्री राम के संकल्प के सामने उनका अहंकार और बल दोनों धूल में मिल गए।
