ततो हतान् राक्षसपुङ्गवांस्तान् देवान्तकादित्रिशिरोतिकायान् ।
रक्षोगणास्तत्र हतावशिष्टास्ते रावणाय त्वरितं शशंसुः ॥६-७३-१॥
tato hatān rākṣasapuṅgavāṃstān devāntakāditriśirotikāyān |
rakṣogaṇāstatra hatāvaśiṣṭāste rāvaṇāya tvaritaṃ śaśaṃsuḥ ॥6-73-1॥
Translation
Then, the remaining Rakshasas who survived the battle quickly reported to Ravana that the foremost Rakshasas—Devantaka, Trishira, Atikaya, etc.—had been killed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनंतर युद्ध में बचे हुए राक्षसों ने रावण को शीघ्रता से सूचना दी कि देवान्तक, त्रिशिरा और अतिकाय आदि राक्षसश्रेष्ठ (वीर) मारे गए हैं।
English Commentary
The narrative continues with a grim roll call of the dead. The surviving soldiers act as messengers of doom, listing the fall of Ravana's elite sons and generals: Devantaka, Trishira, and the mighty Atikaya. This relentless stream of bad news sets the stage for Ravana's escalating desperation and the deployment of his most potent weapon, Indrajit.

एक के बाद एक अपने सर्वश्रेष्ठ वीरों को खोने के बाद रावण के पास बुरी खबरों का तांता लग गया है। अतिकाय, जिसे रावण अपनी ढाल मानता था, मारा गया। 'हतावशिष्टाः' (मारे जाने से बचे हुए) सैनिकों का जीवित लौटना केवल शोक सन्देश लाने के लिए था। यह सर्ग रावण के मानसिक आघात और उसके अंतिम दांव—इन्द्रजित—की तैयारी का वर्णन करता है।
