ततो हतांस्तान् सहसा निशम्य राजा मुमोहाश्रुपरिप्लुताक्षः ।
पुत्रक्षयं भ्रातृवधं च घोरं विचिन्त्य राजा विपुलं प्रदध्यौ ॥६-७३-२॥
tato hatāṃstān sahasā niśamya rājā mumohāśrupariplutākṣaḥ |
putrakṣayaṃ bhrātṛvadhaṃ ca ghoraṃ vicintya rājā vipulaṃ pradadhyau ॥6-73-2॥
Translation
Hearing suddenly that they were killed, the King, with eyes filled with tears, fainted. Reflecting on the destruction of his sons and the terrible killing of his brothers, the King fell into deep thought.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन सबके मारे जाने की बात अचानक सुनकर राजा (रावण) आँखों में आँसू भरकर मूर्छित हो गया। पुत्रों के नाश और भाइयों के घोर वध का चिंतन करके राजा गहरी चिंता में डूब गया।
English Commentary
Ravana is overwhelmed by grief. The cumulative loss of kin—brothers like Kumbhakarna and sons like Atikaya—triggers a physical collapse ('mumoha'). Upon recovering, he sinks into profound brooding ('vipulam pradadhyau'). This marks a shift from active rage to a melancholic realization of the catastrophe befalling his lineage.

रावण का दुख अब सहनशक्ति से बाहर हो चुका है। 'पुत्रक्षयं' (पुत्रों का नाश) और 'भ्रातृवधं' (भाइयों का वध) ने उसे तोड़ दिया है। उसका मूर्छित होना ('मुमोह') उसके गहरे आघात को दर्शाता है। होश आने पर वह 'विपुलं प्रदध्यौ' (गहरी चिंता/शोक) में डूब गया। एक पिता और राजा के रूप में उसकी स्थिति अत्यंत दयनीय है।
