ते भिन्नगात्राः समरे वानराः शरपीडिताः ।
पेतुर्मथितसंकल्पाः सुरैरिव महासुराः ॥६-७३-३९॥
te bhinnagātrāḥ samare vānarāḥ śarapīḍitāḥ |
peturmathitasaṅkalpāḥ surairiva mahāsurāḥ ॥6-73-39॥
Translation
With broken bodies and tormented by arrows in battle, those monkeys fell with their resolve crushed, like great Asuras (killed) by gods.
हिंदी अनुवाद
युद्ध में बाणों से पीड़ित और छिन्न-भिन्न अंगों वाले वे वानर टूटे हुए संकल्प के साथ वैसे ही गिर पड़े जैसे देवताओं द्वारा (मारे गए) महासुर।
English Commentary
Broken spirit. The Vanaras lose not just lives but their will to fight.

मनोबल टूटा। 'मथितसंकल्पाः' (जिनका संकल्प टूट गया हो)—शारीरिक हार से बड़ी मानसिक हार थी।
