Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तयोस्तदा सादितयो रणाग्रे मुमोह सैन्यं हरिपुङ्गवानाम् ।
सुग्रीवनीलाङ्गदजाम्बवन्तो न चापि किञ्चित् प्रतिपेदिरे ते ॥६-७४-१॥
tayostadā sāditayo raṇāgre mumoha sainyaṃ haripuṅgavānām |
sugrīvanīlāṅgadajāmbavanto na cāpi kiñcit pratipedire te ॥6-74-1॥
Translation
When those two (Shri Rama and Lakshmana) fell in the forefront of the battle, the army of the monkey chiefs became bewildered. Even Sugriva, Nila, Angada, and Jambavan could not understand what to do.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन दोनों (श्री राम और लक्ष्मण) के रणभूमि में गिर जाने पर वानर-श्रेष्ठों की सेना मोहित (व्याकुल) हो गई। सुग्रीव, नील, अंगद और जाम्बवान भी कुछ समझ नहीं पा रहे थे (कि क्या करें)।
English Commentary
Shri Rama and Lakshmana have been rendered unconscious by Indrajit's Brahmastra. The bewilderment of the commanders highlights the gravity of the situation. When the leadership is in crisis, it is natural for the army to lose direction. Even the experienced Jambavan was at a loss.
हिंदी टीका
इन्द्रजीत के ब्रह्मास्त्र के प्रभाव से श्री राम और लक्ष्मण अचेत हो गए हैं। सेनानायकों का 'मोहित' होना स्थिति की गंभीरता को दर्शाता है। जब नेतृत्व ही संकट में हो, तो सेना का दिशाहीन होना स्वाभाविक है। यहाँ तक कि जाम्बवान जैसे अनुभवी भी कर्तव्यविमूढ़ हो गए।
