गदाशूलासिहस्तानां खादतां पिबतामपि ।
शयनेषु महार्हेषु प्रसुप्तानां प्रियैः सह ॥६-७५-१६॥
gadāśūlāsihastānāṃ khādatāṃ pibatāmapi |
śayaneṣu mahārheṣu prasuptānāṃ priyaiḥ saha ॥6-75-16॥
Translation
Rakshasas who held maces, spears, and swords in their hands, who were eating and drinking, and who were fast asleep on costly beds with their beloved ones (began to burn in the fire).

हाथों में गदा, शूल और तलवार लिए हुए, खाते-पीते हुए और बहुमूल्य बिस्तरों पर अपनी पत्नियों के साथ सोए हुए राक्षस (अग्नि में जलने लगे)।
English Commentary
The fire's onslaught was so sudden that the Rakshasas had no chance to recover. Sleeping with their weapons indicates their constant state of fear. The words 'eating and drinking' reveal a life limited to bodily pleasures. Death found them while they were enslaved by their lusts and sleep, providing a precise depiction of the abrupt end of an unrighteous life.

अग्नि का आक्रमण इतना अचानक था कि राक्षसों को संभलने का अवसर ही नहीं मिला। वे अपने शस्त्र साथ लेकर सो रहे थे, जो उनके निरंतर भय को दर्शाता है। 'खादतां पिबताम्' शब्द उनके केवल देह-सुख तक सीमित जीवन को प्रकट करते हैं। मृत्यु उन्हें उस समय प्राप्त हुई जब वे अपनी वासनाओं और निद्रा के वशीभूत थे। यह अधर्मी जीवन के आकस्मिक अंत का सटीक चित्रण है।
