मणिविद्रुमचित्राणि स्पृशन्तीव दिवाकरम् ।
क्रौञ्चबर्हिणवीणानां भूषणानां च निस्वनैः ॥६-७५-२०॥
maṇividrumacitrāṇi spṛśantīva divākaram |
krauñcabarhiṇavīṇānāṃ bhūṣaṇānāṃ ca nisvanaīḥ ॥6-75-20॥
Translation
Those buildings adorned with gems and corals, which seemed to touch the sun and were filled with the sounds of cranes, peacocks, the lute, and the tinkling of ornaments—

मणियों और मूंगों के चित्रों से सजे वे भवन, जो मानो सूर्य को स्पर्श कर रहे थे और जो पक्षियों की चहचहाहट, वीणा के स्वर और आभूषणों की झंकार से गूँजते थे—
English Commentary
This verse describes the height of Lanka's palaces and the music that once filled them. 'Touching the sun' signifies their extreme loftiness and pride. The sounds of lutes and ornaments were markers of a life of ease and indulgence. This verse serves to recall the peace and opulence that had now transformed into flames and cries of agony.

यहाँ लंका के महलों की ऊँचाई और वहाँ व्याप्त संगीत का वर्णन है। 'सूर्य को स्पर्श करना' (स्पृशन्तीव दिवाकरम्) उनके अहंकार और विस्तार को दर्शाता है। वीणा और आभूषणों का स्वर वहाँ के सुख-विलास का परिचायक था। यह श्लोक उस शांति और ऐश्वर्य का स्मरण कराता है जो अब केवल अग्नि की लपटों और चीख-पुकार में बदल चुका था।
