रात्रौ सा दृश्यते लङ्का पुष्पितैरिव किंशुकैः ।
हस्त्यध्यक्षैर्गजैर्मुक्तैर्मुक्तैश्च तुरगैरपि ॥६-७५-२६॥
rātrau sā dṛśyate laṅkā puṣpitairiva kiṃśukaiḥ |
hastyadhyakṣaigajairmuktaīrmuktaiśca turagaīrapi ॥6-75-26॥
Translation
At night, that Lanka appeared like forests of flowering Kinshuka trees. Elephants released by their keepers and horses also ran amok.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रात्रि में वह लंका फूलों से लदे पलाश (किंशुक) के वनों के समान लग रही थी। हाथियों के महावतों द्वारा छोड़े गए हाथी और घोड़े भी इधर-उधर भाग रहे थे।
English Commentary
The analogy to red-flowered Kinshuka trees depicts the pervasive fire across Lanka. The uncontrolled flight of elephants and horses symbolizes the complete collapse of military discipline. Even the animals were terrified by this divine wrath. This verse illustrates the utter anarchy within Lanka, where no order remained.

लाल फूलों वाले पलाश (किंशुक) की उपमा लंका की सर्वव्यापी अग्नि को चित्रित करती है। हाथियों और घोड़ों का अनियंत्रित होकर भागना सैन्य अनुशासन के पूर्ण विनाश का प्रतीक है। पशु भी इस दैवीय प्रकोप से भयभीत थे। यह श्लोक लंका की उस अराजकता को दर्शाता है जहाँ अब कोई व्यवस्था शेष नहीं बची थी।
