Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
भीतो भीतं गजं दृष्ट्वा क्वचिदश्वो निवर्तते ।
लङ्कायां दह्यमानायां शुशुभे स महार्णवः ॥६-७५-२८॥
bhīto bhītaṃ gajaṃ dṛṣṭvā kvacidaśvo nivartate |
laṅkāyāṃ dahyamānāyāṃ śuśubhe sa mahārṇavaḥ ॥6-75-28॥
Translation
In some places, a terrified horse would turn back upon seeing a frightened elephant. While Lanka was burning, that great ocean shone (strangely).
हिंदी अनुवाद
कहीं डरा हुआ घोड़ा डरे हुए हाथी को देखकर पीछे मुड़ रहा था। जलती हुई लंका के बीच वह विशाल समुद्र (अत्यंत विचित्र रूप में) सुशोभित हो रहा था।
English Commentary
The mutual fear among the animals highlights their extreme agitation. The ocean 'shining' is a paradox; the fires of Lanka's destruction reflected in the water, turning the entire horizon crimson. The sight was as magnificent as it was terrifying. Nature witnessed the Creator's work (the destruction of unrighteousness) as a grand festival of light.
हिंदी टीका
पशुओं का यह पारस्परिक भय उनकी चरम घबराहट को दर्शाता है। समुद्र का 'सुशोभित' होना यहाँ एक विरोधाभास है—लंका के विनाश की अग्नि समुद्र के जल में प्रतिबिंबित हो रही थी, जिससे पूरा क्षितिज लाल हो गया था। यह दृश्य जितना विनाशकारी था, उतना ही भव्य और डरावना भी। प्रकृति अपने रचयिता के कार्य (अधर्म का नाश) को एक विराट प्रकाश उत्सव के रूप में देख रही थी।
