Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
बभूव तुमुलः शब्दो राक्षसानां भयावहः ।
अशोभत तदा रामो धनुर्विष्फारयन् महत् ॥६-७५-३५॥
babhūva tumulaḥ śabdo rākṣasānāṃ bhayāvahaḥ |
aśobhata tadā rāmo dhanurviṣphārayan mahat ॥6-75-35॥
Translation
A tumultuous sound arose, terrifying to the Rakshasas. At that time, Shri Rama looked exceedingly splendid as He twanged His great bow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसों के लिए अत्यंत डरावना और तुमुल शब्द हुआ। उस समय अपना महान धनुष चढ़ाते हुए श्री राम अत्यंत सुशोभित हो रहे थे।
English Commentary
The twanging of the bow is called 'Bhayavaha' (terrifying) as it struck fear into the hearts of the enemies. Shri Rama's beauty lies in His valor. The word 'Ashobhata' describes His fierce form manifested for the protection of Dharma. This sight was like the final seal on the destruction of Lanka.

धनुष की टंकार (विस्फारयन्) को 'भयावह' कहा गया है, क्योंकि वह शत्रुओं के हृदय को दहलाने वाली थी। श्री राम की सुन्दरता उनके शौर्य में निहित है। यहाँ 'अशोभत' शब्द उनके उस रौद्र रूप का वर्णन करता है जो धर्म की रक्षा के लिए प्रकट हुआ था। यह दृश्य लंका के विनाश की अंतिम मुहर के समान था।
