Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स्थितेषु द्वारमासाद्य रावणं मन्युराविशत् ।
तस्य जृम्भितविक्षेपाद्व्यामिश्रा वै दिशो दश ॥६-७५-४४॥
sthiteṣu dvāramāsādya rāvaṇaṃ manyurāviśat |
tasya jṛmbhitavikṣepādvyāmiśrā vaī diśo daśa ॥6-75-44॥
Translation
Seeing the monkeys stationed at the gates, Ravana was overcome with fury. From the violent tossing of his limbs and his yawning, all ten directions were agitated.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वानरों को द्वारों पर डटा हुआ देख रावण अत्यंत क्रोधित हो गया। उसके जम्हाई लेने और अंगों को झटकने से दसों दिशाओं में खलबली मच गई।
English Commentary
Ravana's fury is now at its peak. His yawning ('Jrimbhita') signifies his bloodlust and ferocity. The agitation caused in nature by his mere movements proves his immense demonic influence. Seeing the Vanaras at his very doorstep was an intolerable insult to his ego.
हिंदी टीका
रावण का क्रोध अब अपने चरम पर है। 'जृम्भित' (जम्हाई लेना) यहाँ उसकी युद्ध पिपासा और उग्रता को दर्शाता है। उसकी शारीरिक हलचल मात्र से प्रकृति में कंपन होना उसके विशाल राक्षसी प्रभाव को सिद्ध करता है। वह देख रहा है कि वानर अब उसके घर के दरवाज़े तक आ पहुँचे हैं, जो उसके अहंकार के लिए असहनीय था।
