प्रावर्तत महारौद्रं युद्धं वानररक्षसाम् ।
वानरान् दश सप्तेति राक्षसा जघ्नुराहवे ॥६-७५-६९॥
prāvartata mahāraudraṃ yuddhaṃ vānararakṣasām |
vānarān daśa saptaiti rākṣasā jaghnurāhave ॥6-75-69॥
Translation
An exceedingly fierce battle broke out between the monkeys and the Rakshasas. In the combat, the Rakshasas were killing monkeys in groups of ten and seven.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वानरों और राक्षसों के बीच अत्यंत रौद्र (भयानक) युद्ध छिड़ गया। राक्षस युद्ध में दस-दस और सात-सात वानरों को एक साथ मार रहे थे।
English Commentary
The destructive capacity of the Rakshasas is described here through numbers. The word 'Raudram' confirms a state of battle where mercy is entirely absent. The Rakshasas had begun mass killings, posing a dire threat to the Vanara host. This was a display of their demonic strength and the superiority of their weaponry.

राक्षसों की संहारक क्षमता यहाँ संख्या के माध्यम से बताई गई है। 'रौद्रम्' शब्द युद्ध के उस भाव को पुष्ट करता है जहाँ दया का सर्वथा अभाव है। राक्षसों ने अब सामूहिक वध आरम्भ कर दिया था, जो वानर सेना के लिए एक भारी संकट था। यह उनके राक्षसी बल और अस्त्रों की श्रेष्ठता का प्रदर्शन था।
