स धनुर्धन्विनां श्रेष्ठः प्रगृह्य सुसमाहितः ।
मुमोचाशीविषप्रख्यान् शरान् देहविदारणान् ॥६-७६-३८॥
sa dhanurdhanvināṃ śreṣṭhaḥ pragṛhya susamāhitaḥ |
mamo cāśīviṣaprakhyān śarān dehavidāraṇān ॥6-76-38॥
Translation
Kumbha, the best among archers, taking up his bow with great concentration, discharged body-tearing arrows resembling poisonous serpents.

धनुर्धारियों में श्रेष्ठ उस कुम्भ ने बड़ी एकाग्रता के साथ अपना धनुष उठाया और विषैले सर्पों के समान शरीर को चीर देने वाले बाण छोड़े।
English Commentary
Kumbha's skill in archery is lauded by calling him the 'best among bowmen.' Being 'Susamahitah' (well-concentrated) is the mark of an expert warrior. The use of serpent-like arrows amplifies the lethality of the carnage. He begins targeting the Vanara host from a distance, proving his tactical proficiency.

कुम्भ की धनुर्विद्या की प्रशंसा उसे 'धनुर्विनां श्रेष्ठः' कहकर की गई है। 'ससमाहितः' (एकाग्रचित्त) होना एक कुशल योद्धा का लक्षण है। सर्प तुल्य बाणों का प्रयोग संहार की तीव्रता को बढ़ा देता है। उसने अब वानर सेना को दूर से ही निशाना बनाना शुरू कर दिया, जो उसके सामरिक कौशल का प्रमाण है।
