Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तस्य तच्छुशुभे भूयः सशरं धनुरुत्तमम् ।
विद्युदैरावतार्चिष्माद्द्वितीयेन्द्रधनुर्यथा ॥६-७६-३९॥
tasya tacchuśubhe bhūyaḥ saśaraṃ dhanuruttamam |
vidyudairāvatārciṣmāddvitīyendradhanuryathā ॥6-76-39॥
Translation
His excellent bow with an arrow fixed upon it shone like a second rainbow, brilliant with the luster of lightning and the elephant Airavata.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बाण चढ़ा हुआ उसका वह श्रेष्ठ धनुष बिजली की चमक और ऐरावत हाथी के तेज से युक्त दूसरे इन्द्रधनुष के समान सुशोभित हो रहा था।
English Commentary
The description of Kumbha's bow is intensely grand. The analogy of a 'second rainbow' captures both the divinity and the terror of his weapon. The flash of lightning symbolizes its destructive velocity. Though a demon, his martial skill appeared as radiant as that of the Gods.

यहाँ कुम्भ के धनुष का वर्णन अत्यंत वैभवशाली है। 'द्वितीय-इन्द्रधनुः' (दूसरा इन्द्रधनुष) की उपमा उसके अस्त्र की दिव्यता और भयंकरता दोनों को प्रकट करती है। बिजली की चमक उसके विनाशकारी वेग का प्रतीक है। यद्यपि वह एक असुर है, किन्तु उसका युद्ध-कौशल देवताओं के समान तेजस्वी प्रतीत हो रहा था।
