आकर्णाकृष्टमुक्तेन जघान द्विविदं तदा ।
तेन हाटकपुङ्खेन पत्रिणा पत्रवाससा ॥६-७६-४०॥
ākarṇākṛṣṭamuktena jaghāna dvividaṃ tadā |
tena hāṭakapuṅkhena patriṇā patravāsasā ॥6-76-40॥
Translation
With a gold-feathered and sharp arrow released after drawing the string up to his ear, he then struck Dvivida.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कानों तक धनुष की डोरी खींचकर छोड़े गए, सुवर्णमयी पंखों वाले उस तीखे बाण से उसने तब द्विविद पर प्रहार किया।
English Commentary
Kumbha's aim was unerring. Drawing the string to the ear ('Akarnakrishta') ensures maximum power behind the shot. He first targets Dvivida, who had just slain Shonitaksha. This is part of the cycle of strike and counter-strike, aimed at neutralizing key opposing warriors.

कुम्भ का निशाना अत्यंत अचूक था। 'आकर्णाकृष्ट' (कान तक खींचना) प्रहार की अधिकतम शक्ति को सुनिश्चित करता है। उसने सबसे पहले द्विविद को लक्ष्य बनाया, जिन्होंने अभी-अभी शोणिताक्ष का वध किया था। यह 'प्रहार-प्रतिप्रहार' की शृंखला का हिस्सा है जहाँ मुख्य योद्धाओं को अक्षम करने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।
