तमापतन्तं विव्याध कुम्भः पञ्चभिरायसैः ।
त्रिभिश्चान्यैः शितैर्बाणैर्मातङ्गमिव तोमरैः ॥६-७६-४७॥
tamāpatantaṃ vivyādha kumbhaḥ pañcabhirāyasaiḥ |
tribhiścānyaiḥ śitairbāṇairmātaṅgamiva tomaraiḥ ॥6-76-47॥
Translation
Kumbha pierced the approaching Angada with five iron arrows and three other sharp shafts, just as an elephant is struck with lances.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी ओर आते हुए अंगद को कुम्भ ने पाँच लोहे के बाणों और तीन अन्य तीखे बाणों से वैसे ही बेध दिया, जैसे हाथी को तोमरों से मारा जाता है।
English Commentary
Kumbha unleashes a barrage of arrows to halt Angada's progress. The analogy of an 'elephant' ('Matangam') highlights Angada's massive strength and endurance. The precise strike of five and three arrows indicates that Kumbha intended to knock down Angada just as he had done with the other commanders.

कुम्भ ने अंगद की गति को रोकने के लिए बाणों की झड़ी लगा दी। 'मātaṅgam' (हाथी) की उपमा अंगद की विशाल शक्ति और उनकी सहनशीलता को दर्शाती है। पाँच और तीन बाणों का सटीक प्रहार यह बताता है कि कुम्भ अंगद को भी अन्य सेनापतियों की तरह ही धराशायी करना चाहता था।
