Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आपतन्तं च सम्प्रेक्ष्य कुम्भो वानरयूथपम् ।
भ्रुवोर्विव्याध बाणाभ्यामुल्काभ्यामिव कुञ्जरम् ॥६-७६-५१॥
āpatantaṃ ca saṃprekṣya kumbho vānarayūthapam |
bhruvorvivyādha bāṇābhyāmulkābhyāmiva kuñjaram ॥6-76-51॥
Translation
Seeing the Vanara troop-leader (Angada) approaching, Kumbha struck him between the eyebrows with two arrows, just as an elephant is hit with torches.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी ओर आते हुए वानर यूथपति (अंगद) को देख, कुम्भ ने उनके भौहों के बीच दो बाणों से वैसे ही प्रहार किया, जैसे हाथी को जलती मशालों से मारा जाता है।
English Commentary
Kumbha targets Angada's vital 'Bhrukuti' (eyebrow) region. The torch ('Ulka') analogy depicts the stinging burn and pain of the arrows. A strike to this part of the head can obstruct vision and numb the senses. Kumbha makes a cruel attempt to completely incapacitate Angada.

कुम्भ ने अंगद के मर्म स्थल 'भ्रृकुटी' (भौहों) को निशाना बनाया। मशाल (उल्का) की उपमा बाणों की जलन और पीड़ा को दर्शाती है। मस्तक के इस भाग पर चोट लगना दृष्टि को बाधित कर सकता है और चेतना को सुन्न कर सकता है। कुम्भ यहाँ अंगद को पूरी तरह अक्षम करने का क्रूर प्रयास कर रहा था।
