अङ्गदो विव्यथे ऽभीक्ष्णं ससाद च मुमोह च ।
अङ्गदं व्यथितं दृष्ट्वा सीदन्तमिव सागरे ॥६-७६-५६॥
aṅgado vivyathe 'bhīkṣṇaṃ sasāda ca mumoha ca |
aṅgadaṃ vyathitaṃ dṛṣṭvā sīdantamiva sāgare ॥6-76-56॥
Translation
Angada was deeply distressed; he staggered and fainted. Seeing Angada distressed like one sinking in the ocean—

अंगद अत्यंत व्यथित हो गए, वे लड़खड़ाए और मूर्छित हो गए। अंगद को समुद्र में डूबते हुए व्यक्ति के समान व्याकुल देख—
English Commentary
Angada's swoon was like a catastrophe for the Vanara army. The metaphor 'sinking in the ocean' ('Sidantam iva sagare') poignantly depicts his deep pain and helpless state. When the prince of the army falls, the morale of the entire force shatters. This marks a dark moment in the battle where the victory of Adharma seemed certain.

अंगद जी का मूर्छित होना वानर सेना के लिए प्रलय के समान था। 'समुद्र में डूबना' (सीदन्तम् इव सागरे) उपमा उनकी गहरी पीड़ा और असहाय अवस्था को मार्मिक रूप से चित्रित करती है। जब सेना का युवराज ही गिर जाए, तो सेना का मनोबल पूरी तरह टूट जाता है। यह युद्ध का वह काला क्षण है जहाँ अधर्म की विजय निश्चित लग रही थी।
