Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
कुम्भकर्णात्मजः शीघ्रं चिच्छेद निशितैः शरैः ।
अभिलक्षेण तीव्रेण कुम्भेन निशितैः शरैः ॥६-७६-६७॥
kumbhakarṇātmajaḥ śīghraṃ ciccheda niśitaiḥ śaraīḥ |
abhilakṣeṇa tīvrena kumbhena niśitaiḥ śaraīḥ ॥6-76-67॥
Translation
The son of Kumbhakarna quickly cut them down with his sharp arrows. The exceedingly swift and accurate Kumbha (destroyed) those trees with his keen shafts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
कुम्भकर्ण के पुत्र ने तुरंत अपने तीखे बाणों से उन्हें काट दिया। अत्यंत तीव्र और सटीक निशाना लगाने वाले कुम्भ ने उन वृक्षों को तीखे बाणों से (नष्ट कर दिया)।
English Commentary
Kumbha's 'Abhilaksha' (perfect aim) is commendable here. He neutralized Sugriva's massive assault through his archery. This illustrates that Kumbha was not just physically powerful but also an accomplished master of weaponry. The duel between Sugriva and Kumbha was now reaching its zenith.

कुम्भ का 'अभिलक्ष' (सटीक निशाना) यहाँ प्रशंसनीय है। उसने सुग्रीव के इतने बड़े आक्रमण को भी अपनी बाण-विद्या से निष्फल कर दिया। यह दर्शाता है कि कुम्भ केवल शारीरिक रूप से ही बलवान नहीं था, बल्कि वह शस्त्रों के संचालन में भी एक 'सिद्ध' योद्धा था। सुग्रीव और कुम्भ का यह द्वंद्व अब चरम पर पहुँच रहा था।
