तेन सुग्रीववाक्येन सावमानेन मानितः ।
अग्नेराज्याहुतस्येव तेजस्तस्याभ्यवर्धत ॥६-७६-८०॥
tena sugrīvavākyena sāvamānena mānitaḥ |
agnerājyāhutasyeva tejastasyābhyavardhata ॥6-76-80॥
Translation
By those words of Sugriva, which were both honoring and challenging (slighting), Kumbha's brilliance increased just as fire flares up when offered an oblation of ghee.

सुग्रीव के उन वचनों से, जो सम्मान और अपमान (चुनौती) दोनों से युक्त थे, कुम्भ का तेज वैसे ही बढ़ गया जैसे घी की आहुति से अग्नि प्रज्वलित हो उठती है।
English Commentary
Sugriva's words shook Kumbha's self-respect. The analogy of an 'oblation of ghee' ('Ajyahutasya') is very precise. The praise boosted his pride while the challenge stoked his rage. Kumbha was now prepared to fight with his final and most intense energy. This was the psychological impact of the dialogue that rendered the battle even more violent.

सुग्रीव की बातों ने कुम्भ के स्वाभिमान को झकझोर दिया। 'घी की आहुति' (आज्याहुतस्य) की उपमा अत्यंत सटीक है। प्रशंसा ने उसके गर्व को बढ़ाया और चुनौती ने उसके क्रोध को। कुम्भ अब अपने जीवन की अंतिम और सबसे प्रचंड ऊर्जा के साथ लड़ने के लिए तैयार था। यह संवाद का मनोवैज्ञानिक प्रभाव था जिसने युद्ध को और अधिक हिंसक बना दिया।
