अथ विनदति सादिते निकुम्भे पवनसुतेन रणे बभूव युद्धम् ।
दशरथसुतराक्षसेन्द्रसून्वोर्भृशतरमागतरोषयोः सुभीमम् ॥६-७७-२४॥
atha vinadati sādite nikumbhe pavanasutena raṇe babhūva yuddham |
daśarathasutarākṣasendrasūnvorbhṛśataramāgataropayoḥ subhīmam ॥6-77-24॥
Translation
When the roaring Nikumbha was killed by the son of the Wind, a most terrible battle ensued between the son of Dasaratha (Shri Rama) and the son of the Rakshasa King (Makaraksga?), who were both filled with intense anger.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पवनपुत्र द्वारा गरजते हुए निकुम्भ के मारे जाने पर, रणभूमि में दशरथपुत्र (श्री राम) और राक्षसराज के पुत्र (मकरध्वज/खरपुत्र?) के बीच, जो अत्यंत क्रोधित थे, अत्यंत भयानक युद्ध हुआ। (नोट: यहाँ संदर्भ अगले सर्ग के मकराक्ष युद्ध की भूमिका है)।
English Commentary
After Nikumbha's death, the focus of the battle shifts. The stage is set for the conflict between Shri Rama and the next commander (Makaraksha).
