गच्छ पुत्र मया ऽ ऽज्ञप्तो बलेनाभिसमन्वितः ।
राघवं लक्ष्मणं चैव जहि तांश्च वनौकसः ॥६-७८-३॥
gaccha putra mayā''jñapto balenābhisamanvitaḥ |
rāghavaṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ caiva jahi tāṃśca vanaukasaḥ ॥6-78-3॥
Translation
Go, my son, commanded by me, accompanied by the army, and slay Raghava (Shri Rama), Lakshmana, and those forest-dwelling Vanaras.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे पुत्र! मेरी आज्ञा से तुम सेना के साथ जाओ और राघव (श्री राम), लक्ष्मण तथा उन वनवासी वानरों का वध कर डालो।
English Commentary
Ravana addresses Makaraksha affectionately as 'son,' asserting both his authority as the king and his status as an elder relative. The phrase 'commanded by me' emphasizes that this is a royal decree which cannot be refused. Ravana's instructions are explicit: the total elimination of the brothers Shri Rama and Lakshmana, along with their Vanara support base. Despite his disdain for the 'forest dwellers,' he recognizes the need to annihilate them to secure victory.

रावण यहाँ मकराक्ष को 'पुत्र' कहकर सम्बोधित करता है, जो अधिकार और स्नेह दोनों का सूचक है। राजा की आज्ञा ('मया आज्ञप्तो') किसी भी योद्धा के लिए शिरोधार्य होती है। रावण का लक्ष्य स्पष्ट है—श्री राम और लक्ष्मण का विनाश। वह वानरों को 'वनौकसः' (वन में रहने वाले) कहकर उनकी उपेक्षा करता है, फिर भी उन्हें मारने का आदेश देता है क्योंकि वे ही श्री राम की शक्ति का आधार थे।
