प्रदक्षिणं रथं कृत्वा आरुरोह निशाचरः ।
सूतं सञ्चोदयामास शीघ्रं मे रथमावह ॥६-७८-८॥
pradakṣiṇaṃ rathaṃ kṛtvā āruroha niśācaraḥ |
sūtaṃ sañcodayāmāsa śīghraṃ me rathamāvaha ॥6-78-8॥
Translation
Having circumambulated the chariot, the night-roamer ascended it and urged the charioteer, 'Drive my chariot quickly.'
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस निशाचर ने रथ की परिक्रमा करके उस पर आरोहण किया और सारथी को आदेश दिया—'मेरे रथ को शीघ्र ले चलो।'
English Commentary
Circumambulating the chariot before boarding is a ritual act, acknowledging the vehicle as a sacred instrument of war that protects the warrior. Once mounted, Makaraksha's command to the charioteer (suta) to drive fast reinforces his impatience. He is rushing towards his destiny, unaware of the doom that awaits him at the hands of Shri Rama.
हिंदी टीका
रथी द्वारा अपने रथ की परिक्रमा करना, 'आयुध पूजा' या वाहन के प्रति सम्मान का प्रतीक है, क्योंकि युद्ध में जीवन उसी पर निर्भर होता है। मकराक्ष का पुनः 'शीघ्र' शब्द का प्रयोग करना उसके अधीर उत्साह को पुष्ट करता है। वह शत्रु से भिड़ने के लिए अत्यंत व्यग्र है।
