Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
दृष्ट्वा राममदूरस्थं लक्ष्मणं च महारथम् ।
मघोपमं पाणिनाहूय ततो वचनमब्रवीत् ॥६-७९-१६॥
dṛṣṭvā rāmamadūrasthaṃ lakṣmaṇaṃ ca mahāratham |
makhopamaṃ pāṇināhūya tato vacanamabravīt ॥6-79-16॥
Translation
Seeing Shri Rama and the great car-warrior Lakshmana standing nearby, Makaraksha, who was radiant like a sacrificial fire (or Indra), summoned them with a gesture of his hand and spoke.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम और महारथी लक्ष्मण को अपने समीप खड़ा देख, यज्ञ पुरुष (या इन्द्र) के समान तेजस्वी मकराक्ष ने हाथ के संकेत से उन्हें बुलाया और ये वचन कहे।
English Commentary
Makaraksha summoning Shri Rama with a mere gesture of the hand reflects his immense hubris and lack of etiquette. He mistakenly views himself as an equal to the Lord. The comparison 'Makhopamam' (like a sacrifice) hints at his fierce brilliance. This marks the transition from verbal confrontation to the clash of divine weaponry.

मकराक्ष द्वारा श्री राम को हाथ से संकेत कर बुलाना उसके अपार अहंकार और शिष्टाचार की कमी को दर्शाता है। वह स्वयं को श्री राम के तुल्य मान रहा है। 'मखोपमम्' (यज्ञ के समान) की उपमा उसके उग्र तेज की ओर संकेत करती है। यहाँ वह क्षण आ गया है जब वाणी का युद्ध समाप्त होकर अस्त्रों का युद्ध आरम्भ होगा।
