Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
रुधिरार्द्रमुखा हृष्टा रक्तपक्षाः खगाश्च ये ।
रवे तथा वसुधायां च भ्रमिष्यन्ति समन्ततः ॥६-७९-२८॥
rudhirārdramukhā hṛṣṭā raktapakṣāḥ khagāśca ye |
rave tathā vasudhāyāṃ ca bhramiṣyanti samantataḥ ॥6-79-28॥
Translation
Those joyous birds with blood-stained faces and crimson wings shall wander everywhere in the sky and upon the earth.
हिंदी अनुवाद
रक्त से सने मुख वाले और प्रसन्न हुए वे लाल पंखों वाले पक्षी आकाश और पृथ्वी पर सब ओर विचरेंगे।
English Commentary
This verse depicts the gruesome reality of the battlefield. The visual of blood-stained scavengers serves as a harbinger of the end of demonic forces. Shri Rama warns Makaraksha that his demise is not only certain but will be ignominious. The 'joy' of the birds represents nature's reclamation after the purge of a demon.

यह श्लोक युद्ध की वीभत्स वास्तविकता का चित्रण है। रक्तपात के बाद जो दृश्य उपस्थित होता है, वह आसुरी शक्तियों के अंत का परिचायक है। श्री राम मकराक्ष को बता रहे हैं कि उसका अंत न केवल निश्चित है, बल्कि वह अत्यंत अपमानजनक भी होगा। 'हृष्टाः' शब्द पक्षियों के आनंद को दर्शाता है, जो प्रकृति द्वारा एक राक्षस के संहार के उपलक्ष्य में है।
